Demon. The cunning imp retracted her horns when eye contact was established. Her eyes full of gleam, alert and mischievous simultaneously, as if challenging her prey to lose his cool in the public. Spotting blonde streaks, her gaze shifted away when she realised the protagonist was not going to fall for her trap. Blinking sheepishly, she exuded a blasé expression that would have fooled even some of the best. In the past, it would have fooled him. Hell he fell for it once, sacrifised everything and almost lost everything. If not for his iron will and his discipline, he would not have pulled through that diffcult time. Now his training kicked in, suppressing his instinct and keeping him composed. Revenge can wait, be professional, wait for the chance for her to let her guard down. Then one blitzkrieg and we'll send her back to the burning pits that spawned her, he envisaged. Spiff maintained eye contact as he closed in on the predator. It's time to turn the tables. The predator shall become the prey. Suddenly...
I always wanted to write a spinoff about The Adventures of Spaceman Spiff (From Calvin and Hobbes fame!) but unfortunately because of copyright issues and time constraint I can't finish my work, let alone start it. But I'm going to finish this short story because I was inspired to write it... At least after updating my recent events... After firing several salvos, I am temporarily free from the firm grip of oppression... Wasting no time, I took this opportunity to catch up with my past and vice versa (more often than not vice versa)...
On the 9th, I met Wl and Cl for dim sum buffet at Excelsior Hotel... Super cheap and as good as Long Men... Suddenly I got a craving for dim sum again!!! And guess who we met? The Cow! I guess Singapore is small on the outside indeed... At night, I went for a wedding dinner with my dad at Marina Mandarin... Yeah it's kinda weird to be travelling too and fro in a short timespan but what to do? I couldn't just waste 6 hrs there... At least I found a relatively cheap place to park in City Hall liao...
The next day, Eugene, CL and me went to WL's house to play Winning 11 8!!! The only things I knew were that home advantage rocks and there is such a club called Fake Madrid! Haiz it was kinda gay to be trashed by the host but life's like that. And of course WL showcased his culinary skills! I guess he'll prob set up a restaurant in the future... Well practice makes perfect, keep the dishes coming!
On the 12th, after a hard day's work (serious!), I went to the famous Manhattan Fish Market to chill... It's just like Fish and co., though I feel that the latter's serving is bigger... But the offer for the coffee was cool... 95 cents for a cup of coffee and a big one too! Too bad the former is not as common as the latter (or am I wrong to say that?)...
And finally on the 13th, I went to AMK hub with my family for lunch at New York, New York... Guess who paid? Anyways what's so significant abt it? Well in case you didn't know, I've been to all the famous western restaurants around Singapore. From Billy Bombers to NYDC, you name it, I've probably been there this past 3 months... Oh the life of a (soon to be) free man... I guess life can only get better after my impending complete freedom! As for the reviews of all the places I've been to, stay tuned for my AAR and statistics post after the lost pink prodigy returns! To cap of a fantastic and fun filled day, I had the opportunity to research about the parking rates in town and put it to good use... Let's just say I had a really good long practice session on night driving, thanks to someone's directions... I learnt to trust my instincts and gained much valuable insights on how ERP and parking rates in town works... So what was I doing? Basically I met Eugene, CL, WL and SH for a long (4 hrs ok) session of voice training... Karaoke... Man it's been a long time since I last sang properly... Haha so as u can guess it was all quite terrible... But hey the others weren't perfect too... Some consolation eh? I think I need to like mug some chinese words so that I can belt out at least 5 chinese songs... That's a start I guess... Considering that I can only sing 2 songs properly, out of which I sang only 1... The rest were all English songs... And they weren't so good either as I didn't choose songs that suited me... Rather I chose songs that I wanted to sing... After all this wasn't a competition! By the time it came to my better songs, time was up and it was a case of too little too late... The only consolation was Untitled... I guess it was really meaningful to me so it was the only song I sang seriously though I still fluffed the high notes... I guess I'll be joining bass soon... At least some ppl didn't lose their touch... I guess it's either they're born with it or maybe it's Maybelline! (Disclaimer: To the people I'm secretly implying, please don't take it too hard. I'm just joking here!)
Poof! The demon vanished. What the hell? Thought Spiff. Looking around, he saw nothing amiss. As he stepped out into the cold, moonless night, his mind was still focused on the demon. One thing Spiff knew for sure, she'll be back. To goad Spiff in an attempt to drive him crazy. Until he formulates a plan to resolve this pressing issue, he knew that she'll come back to haunt him, be it in his dreams or in reality. Mounting his sleek new spacecraft, another more important thought struck him. He grinned to himself as the new thought sank in, pushing the recent confrontation to the back of his head. Just a few days more...
