A Day Of Mourning

"You got 6 weeks left to live." That's the catch phrase of the channel i show 6 weeks... I just watched the last episode of 6 weeks today. So ironic. The guy was supposed to die of stomach cancer but in the end died of a fight with some gangsters. However the show really touched me. I really admired his courage to fight his fear of dying and his positive mentality about not worrying for no reason because you can't control when you will die. What would I do if I have 6 weeks to live? I hope I would spend the time with my family and friends just like what he did instead of complaining or worrying about death. It shows how the threat of death can be a "blessing in disguise" by uniting a family in crisis. I guess it's life. Sometimes it's unfair and unpredictable which summarises the whole show.

This reminds me of today's shocking news about the Asian Earthquake that caused a Tsunami which (literally) rained death on the people of Southern India, Sumatran islands in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand and Bangladesh. It's a sad day that 7000 ppl died on Boxer's Day, a few days before the new year. Imagine celebrating Christmas the night before and a huge tidal wave kills you the next morning. It's so heartbreaking that such chaotic disasters do happen on the Christmas week. Even last year was not spared. The Iran Earthquake that killed 10000 ppl last year about this time. This is an excellent case that life is unpredictable and unfair at times. Even 2004 years ago when Jesus was born in a manger, King Herold slaughtered boys that were 2 years old and below.

I guess we should be very thankful that Singapore was not hit(though some ppl felt tremors) and nobody was hurt. The next few days will be filled with sorrow, hurt and sadness as the world comes to terms with this appalling disaster. This catastrophe will definately leave a black mark on the year 2004 as we welcome the new year...
