Carolling (Finale)

Today was an amazing day. It's Christmas Day and it was the best carolling session ever. The day started normal. I went early to meet Wei Lin to buy Christmas Cards from... 7-11!!! They didn't sell any though... We then went to Ritz to carol for 2 sessions, 1 at the cafe with lots of food(I was looking at the breakfast than at the conductor Chin Leng) and 1 at some ballroom where ppl were eating lunch. We then had lunch at some Hardwork Cafe which was the staff cafe. The food was sucky but filling. The last session was at the same cafe but I was looking at the salmon instead. Haha luckily there was sandwiches as usual which was DAMN NICE! As usual our songs were mostly flat but it was because we had little warmups and the audience were more interested in the food than us... Luckily it was only 15 mins per session. It was really ear in ear out!

The action came when we went over to Raffles for a reunion carolling session. It was so phenominal having Victoria Chorale, yr 3s, yr 4s, yr 5s, etc... anyone who ever sang in VJ Choir was there. Oh the unity and spirit of the choir... We had like 100+ ppl. I have to add the word pro in front. Nelson was conducting the session. I will remember it. The sound was... totally jaw dropping. We almost brought the whole hotel down. We could hear the resonance. I remember I pushed my diaphram for the ending of Joy To The World cos he wanted it to ring and be loud. All the chords were beautiful. Nelson's awe inspiring presence made it possible. Imagine conducting 100+ ppl. Our pitch, technicality, interpretation, etc were totally mind blowing. Everyone was like blasting la. Blasting the right thing some more... The sound was like supported, rounded and nice. Only our timing was a little wrong. He was a little angry that we didn't follow his timing. He was like telling us not to rush... Other than that, it was totally incredible. I also remember Gaudete. I got a heart attack when he ask me to sing it. I was like not prepared but I still stepped up. Ben Tan and me blasted like there was no tmr. I could hear the intensity and the volume of the choir from my position. I also saw that some of the audience were ex VJ choir members. They were singing along with us too!!! It was so magical to see the whole lobby filled with music and carols! I really cannot describe the feeling of being in this unique family.

After the carolling, I received some Christmas cards from my seniors and peers. I felt so embarrassed cos I didn't write any Christmas cards. We then went to Marina Bay, the usual gang of Wei Lin, Zi Yi, Shawn, Eugene, Dennis and me. We went to play pool but Zi Yi and Dennis left halfway. Then Wei Lin invited 2 of his juniors to join us for bbq steamboat. We ate from like 5 to 8 pm. So full la. We ate like almost everything except seafood(so ironic). Most of the food was burnt but who cares... We were talking abt ghoststories and that junior called Grace was like so whiney. Kept complaining abt everything. Wei Lin says it's bad mood but I think it's AP. She was like saying that "everything disgusts me"...

After that we walked to Marina Bay MRT and Grace was like saying "can we walk faster?" Wha I really couldn't stand her. I told her to respect her seniors and we started bickering the whole way to the MRT station. In the end, I ended up taking the same bus as her cos she lives near me. Actually she wasn't that bad... Maybe her mood was better... Who knows? We found out that we could actually stand each other although our personalities are different. I guess it was because we were talking abt lame stuff.

To round of my day, Wei Lin sent me a song via MSN called Ting Bu Dao by Mayday. It's a damn nice song. I fell in love with it when I went his house and heard it last time. Haha I'll ask Wei Lin to teach me that song 1 day... Wha I'm so exhausted I'm gonna die already. My brain is like some alarm bells that are jingling cos of insufficient sleep... Which reminds me of Jingle Bells!!!
