The Penultimate Days

Just like the electrons in the penultimate shell (ok no link), it's one last step to the excitation to the delocalisation stage! I'm supposed to follow protocol and blog on the 66-days-remaining day... But I either got no inspiration or had no time... So here is the belated AAR during the period of 77-to-66 days left! To start off, on the 21st I caught a double whammy of movies... Went to PS to watch Rush Hour 3... Then it's off fishing at Fish & Co. for dinner and a digesting walk back to Cineleisure Orchard (Pre AWOL incident) to catch the highly acclaimed The Bourne Ultimatum... 2 reasons why caught the latter movie... 7 bucks (which was unexpected as it was still a "first week release" movie at tt time, I thought it was 8 bucks) and the timing was suitable... Rush Hour 3 was predictable, funny and full of action, despite the recycled jokes- it's just JC and CT, they make a damn funny team that will just make most ppl laugh despite recycling their jokes- Conversely The Bourne Ultimatum was unpredictable, serious and even more full of heart stopping action. The gritty tale of how a spy gets his revenge on his backstabbing agency as opposed to the light hearted tale of how 2 police officers rescue the damsel in distress is an excellent example of how movies of different genre appeals to different audiences... RH had a much younger audience while BU had a more mature audience (majority of them couples, no doubt the ladies either dragging their men to watch the hunky Matt D or the guys dragging their ladies to watch the wham bam explosions and action or perhaps both)...

Then it was 25th where VC for the first time extended practice till 9 plus pm... Went to eat at this place near SSCC nicknamed the "Beer Garden"... Used to go there super many times back in VJ Choir (remember the pre Olympic or pre SYF or pre performance days on sat!!! It always means eating there during tt measly 1hr lunch break!) Despite the circumstances, the food still sucks... Haiz...

In Song!!! On the 26th, it was a trip down memory lane (partly for me cos I knew some of the songs beforehand) as VC celebrated it's 20th Anniversary... Now after hearing the recordings, I realised that some of the songs were actually good... Despite the normal feeling that I felt on stage, the recordings seem to paint, rather sing a different tune (forgive the pun)... Though some songs fell short, generally no obvious mistakes could be heard (thankfully) except the bulb blowing (resonance) and the premature clapping of the audience in Miao Jia... Speaking of which, singing Miao Jia brings back memories of TK!!! And my esteemed SL YC... What did you do prior to the performance? Despite quote "a hole in your throat" because of ahem, you also drank something... And you can still Yo!!! You serve as an inspiration to all tenors man!!! I really mean it man... And one more thing that touched me (besides the songs la) was Mr. Kwei's speech at the end before the encore song about VC being "a home to all Victorians to pursue their passion in chorale music"... I thought that was really heartfelt and apt. 'Nuff said.

The next significant event was on the 28th... I went to Tampines Mall and its neighbour to look for a game called Bioshock... Unfortunately it was not out yet, and I was very hungry! So I went to Billy Bombers and gorged myself... Must be the ORD mood man together with the lousy SFI food of the previous day... I ordered some fried Dory with fries, then added cheese fries and mocha milkshake! I was totally crazy tt day... In the end I couldn't finish the fries... Man I suck... And I'm getting fat... Haiz...

To end off, the last significant event before the 66th day remaining is an amusing day... But it also serves as a lesson of the importance communication... The original plan was to celebrate Marriane's (from my church) birthday and have Bible Study afterwards so I skipped 2 lousy SFI meals... But apparently she wasn't free and Daryl also couldn't make it for Bible Study... And I didn't know it still... It was only when I met Andrew (my BS leader) that I found out about the gaffe! So we loitered around Raffles mall and finally decided (after some prodding from me) to eat at Cafe Cartel... I was seriously hungry... But I learned my lesson and ordered less (partly thanks to the free bread that they provided)... So the moral of the story is communication is very important...

Oh and personally, I enjoyed listening to 4 songs from In Song (though it could have been more)... And with that, ends the month of August!!! Now onto Sept!!!
