Bad Hair Days

Actually, by right, I should be blogging about SOV 07 cos it's the most colourful thing that has passed this week... And I feel bad that I am not going to do so... I've read other choir peeps' blogs and mostly are updated with SOV 07... Guess I'll be the last few to do so... My whole essay abt that event is in my foolscap pad in camp... Sianz... So until I bring it back home, there's no way to copy and paste... Yeah I admit, I was bored during my work... Bored and free yesterday during work... So I whipped out my pad and started penning down my thoughts about SOV, aptly titled No Man Is An Island, which ironically became an island isolated in an air con room... So stay tuned for the post, coming soon ASAP...

Now to more pressing issues... Right I cut my hair on the 8th of May, the day VJ choir sang for SYF... So I'm going to tell the story about my "bad hair days" cos practically everybody has been questioning me about my choice of haircut and I've been teased by my section mates(much to their pleasure and my dismay of course)... Anyway it was a worthy sacrifice...

After a rather uneventful Monday, I was preparing to go home on Tues, then proceed to VCH to catch the choirs in action for SYF... Now, as I was about to leave, some bloody ****** commented my hair was too long... Now to set the record straight, my hair is already short at that time... Ask my church friends, chorale ppl, section mates etc... They can vouch for me... But the bloody ****** insisted that I cut my hair or face the consequences... What to do? What to do?? Bo Bian, LLST, cut lor... Translation: No choice, must cut my hair... Now I was rushing for time as I had a competition/performance to catch... I can't afford to waste precious time... So I told the barber to cut my hair short... Because my hair was already short as it is, the barber snipped here and there tentatively... I was really fed-up... There was (really) no difference after she finished snipping my hair... So I was like practically rolling my eyes.... "Auntie I'm in a hurry, can cut shorter?" She suggested No. 4 and I said ok... I was thinking... (1) If they want short, I'll give them real short!!! (2) If I just go like tt, it's 7 bucks wasted for a little snip here and there, might as well make the most out of it, it's called stretching ur dollar! (3) The weather is reaaalllly hot these few days... I guess little hair would do me good and cool me down... (4) I was in a hurry and I need to show them results so these was the easiest way out, not to mention the fastest. So the deal was done and I rushed down to VCH...

But as usual, the story didn't end there... If it did, then there would be no issue right? Wrong... As I stepped out of the barber, a punk kid of barely what, 14(?), saw me and asked me which sec school I came from... Ok I was initially pleased at that comment until I realised it was the hair that caused this comment... So I retorted that I'm serving my country... He was impressed and asked my position... I told him and then he gave me a dismissive gesture... Luckily I was in a hurry and my time was too precious to be wasted on this punk with pierced tongue... If not he would have felt the full fury of the dark side of the force... For those who know me, I think only Ian has experienced the full fury once in sec school... In other words, I'm not really pissed off easily... But boy if I had the time, that boy would learn a lesson or 2 about respect... Right then of course loads of ppl asked me about my hair... No problem explaining the whole long story... But after a while, it gets kinda mundane to explain again and again...

So after all this cock(male chicken) and bull(male cow, no pun intended to *ahem*) story, what happened to the ******... He was rather sheepish about being so picky but was still adamant that he did the right thing... On the bright side, it inspired my PC and some of my section mates to join the short hair club... On the dark side, I'm teased many times by my understudy... Feels like last year... Ewwwww... Yuck! The only consolation I see is not cutting my hair for the next 2 months... Hell yeah I ain't going to cut my hair... If they say it's long again, I'll show them short (i.e. bald!)... Now I'm going to blame global warming for increasing the Earth's temp and forcing me to cut my hair short so as to feel cooler...
