GD! First thing tt comes to ppls' mind is good day! Right, besides being a song by The Click Five (OOO I was converted to a fan cos of 98.7 featuring the Click Five Live man and cos of this song! As to how come I'm listening to 98.7 Muttons in the morning, it's cos I'm doing area cleaning with my transistor radio every morn 6-730! Ah what wld life be without music?), the CCT instructors ending the C& R lesson or a normal greeting, GD also means Guard Duty...
Right so there I was on sat morn... Doing GD in camp... Cos of that stupid pocket diary... Crooked lines warranted me a GD... No point arguing... It's 4 more working days to POP so might as well keep low and stay out of trouble. Don't want to OOC now after 2 mths of hard work.( which includes listening to 98.7 every morn!) Well lucky for me, half the MP Basics couldn't draw straight lines like me. Split them to 3 days of GD and u get 9 to 11 ppl in 1 day... Yup with 9 ppl our working hrs are less taxing... Basically just in case it's all classified info and yadayada... I'll be brief... I had 3 hrs of sentry( standing still and allowing cars to go in) and 5 times walking ard camp... 2 hrs of guardroom duty (ie listening to radio and keep awake cos my shift was like at 11pm). Walking ard the camp from 12 am onwards, I realised smt interesting... Windshields of cars fogged at 1-2 am... No close encounters of the 3rd kind whatsoever... Basically nobody comes in late at night... Those ppl who have to stay in camp are nocturnal ppl... Lights still on at 2am... In fact after my last round at 3 plus, the lights are still on! Can even hear voices... Woah! So what did I gained from tt 1 day of GD? I finished a book called Beach Road, enjoyed aircon, enjoyed 93.3, 98.7 and some malay radio channel, watched yugi oh( I think tt's what it's called) and pokemon and 1/2 hr of the Patriot... Now tt was the gd stuff... The bad stuff was 2 hrs of sleep, 1 big mosquito bite and leg cramps after walking ard the camp 5 times and standing for 3 hrs, especially the 3 hr sentry... TOTAL COMPLETE BOREDOM... Basically just open the gate and record vehicle plate no. entering or leaving... Cos it's sat so there's no business... By the first 1/2 an hour, my enthusiasm faded completely. I tried singing songs... It worked for 1 hr... Then I ran out of songs/lyrics... So 1.5 hr was spent thinking abt life and about someone... Really miss JC life... Well at least tt 1.5 hr was really spent on self reflection... Now at least I gotta draft and a preliminary outline... Hope it works... Will continue to elaborate as the plans unfold...
Upon returning home, I realised tt it's only a 4 mins diff in the mrt ride from bedok to Jurong to Yew tee and from bedok to city hall to yew tee... Weird! I thought it shd be a longer time diff... I also watched Mission Impossible 3... Here is the impossible scenario... Got a nights off for 3.5 hrs 1 night. I took MRT 1 stop down to Choa Chu Kang Lot 1 shopping mall and caught the show which lasted 2 hrs... Then took MRT back to yew tee with .5 hrs to spare! Yeah think I'll use the same tactic for Da Vinci code and X men 3!!! MI3 is damn nice cos it's directed by the director of my fav show Lost! The action and suspense is so palpable I almost got a shock in the opening scenes when tt Hoffman counted to 10! Woah gd stuff... Really enjoyable and exciting! (maybe it was bolstered by the fact tt I was nervous to book back in on time...)
Oh I almost forgot... Today is Happy Mother's Day! I wanted to treat my mum to lunch but she said another day cos today all the restaurants would be crowded... I don't know about tt but well since she insisted on another day, what can I say?
