A Life In VJC Comes To An End, A Life In Army Beckons

Firstly I want to apologise about not updating my blog for 2++ months... What a rollercoaster ride it has been for me. Totally scintillating stuff... Ok now that I am rather free (although for a fleeting 5 days), here's my best recount of what has happened so far...

1st Jan 2006: Happy New Year everyone... What a rare occasion 1st of Jan falls on a Sun... The last time tt happened, it was way back in 98? Super long time ago... Well I went to church to play piano for service for what seems to be the last time for the next 2 yrs... Reason's pretty obvious... Luckily today there were plenty of songs to play, although I came late. (It's not my fault... Youth meetings shd end punctually...) 5 days to DDay... I ain't going crazy yet... Not yet... Well I'm still me though I admit I'm pretty worried... Who wouldn't? A melting pot of cultures and ideas... Sure creates an exothermic rxn!!! Haha A levels are over yes... But... my juniors are requesting help... Just like 2 yrs ago after O levels... I have to do their holiday hw for them... Quite fun cos now there is no pressure on me...

31st Dec 2005: I spent the whole day with Chin Leng, Eugene Quek & Evelyn @ Bedok Mac... What were we doing there? Let's just say I felt I was the student instead... Then I rushed to church for some mini concert to usher in the new year... The food's good... And I caught up with alot of old friends... Even received holiday hw... Last min buggers... All learn from me... I guess I deserve it for being such a slacker...

30th Dec: I went to Funan @ 10 to redeem my X box... The only prob? I forgot to bring my Dad's IC... Sian I made a wasted trip... Then I saw an offer... Buy 1 game get 1 free... So ya my house now has 2 X box games but no X box... Maybe it'll come on 3rd... First day of school!!! Hahaha no link right? Then I went to VJC to collect GPA... Met with Chin Leng, Eugene and Evelyn in the choir room... They managed to convince me to watch Narnia @ GV Tampines... $9.50... Super ex... Eugene watched alr so he went back. The 3 of us went to watch some 1950 hrs show until 2200 hrs... Now the funny part... As we walked out, we met my senior, the pro Benjamin Lee. He didn't change a bit. (ok maybe he's slimmer now) I asked him about life in the army... He said treat it as a game... So I ask him what are u doing here? Clearing leave? He said he has a 5 day week... Well it was Friday that day, I told him and he gave me the thumbs up... Just like Bremen or like during sectionals 04, always the thumbs up if I said smt... Yup he didn't change a bit.

29th Dec: I slacked on that day... Totally played the com until it almost died... Fifa 06 and Dungeon Seige 2.

28th Dec: Morning was slack... Afternoon, Cl and Eq came my house to 228...(Play Fifa 06) We created some Lautenia Cup (inspired by a particular choir song) and whacked the com... To bad Cl died to Benefica... Haha we were using some 3.5 star teams... Now only Eq and me are on the quarters... Maybe they'll come back to finish it... Then we went to Lucas's house's function room for the choir farewell party... Quite boring along the way... Luckily Cl brought his caroling scores along... So we actually learned one easy carol in the bus... I think it was "It came upon a midnight clear" or smt like tt... Next yr VC might sing it u nv know... The farewell was a hit... I showed ppl how to open up a mussel(?) with a folk and spoon... Quite lame yeah... Sister Joel was his usual mad self... They showed 2 videos... "A moment of silence", which was made for a competition and the whole 2 yrs in VJC choir... Gd stuff... Brings back the memories! The cake was solid... The yr 2s sang Os Justi, Water Night and Karimatanu Village song... Took some pics, received some presents and gdb to us seniors... On the train back, a couple of juniors and us sang some SOV songs and Christmas carols for old times sake(at pppp volume)... Tt really did a gd job in passing the time... Ya, I think the 2 yrs in VJ Choir was totally scintillating stuff. I had the most exhilarating 2 yrs in VJ choir... Yup I'm going to miss it... But all good things must come to an end... I'll miss my juniors and peers in VJ choir... U guys are a super fun and talented batch to work with. Well, Xiamen's next man... I really hope I can go with VC...

27th Dec: Slack morning... I met my church peeps, Andrew, Daryl Maxim, Hui Qi, Dawn and Marianne for lunch at some Jap restaurant near City Hall... We talked abt our future activities in church... Our future plans... Ya but we'll still be meeting so tt's not so bad... We then split up... Girls watched King Kong, guys watched Narnia... I had other arrangements... I met sister Joel at City Hall. We went to Toa Payoh to buy Cheryl's birthday present, 2 bottles of wine.( I dunno how to spell the name...) Cheryl's birthday bash was a success... The food was ok but the item of the day was Vodka as usual... This time the ground did not tilt 15 degrees like last yr... Most of my class peeps were there... The guys kept saboing me... After my 3rd cup of vodka mixed with soft drinks, I sorta decided to chill... But they poured more alcohol into my lime in the coke... They're nuts.(pardon the pun...) So I ended up drinking 6 glasses? At least it was not pure like last yr... Last yr I almost died... This yr was nothing... I was red... A lot of ppl thought I was a goner... Haha but on the journey back I regained my usual self again... Ask Matt Lau for proof... HAhahaha tt's cos this time I used a trick I learned from Brainiac. It's a secret... Hahahaha... So everyone was quite surprised at how quick I turned red and back again... Funny thing is I saw Gab Cheow and Ben Tan... Hahaha cos they live so near Cheryl's hse... I wonder y they didn't drag their friend along who's my sl(opps)...

26th Dec: Slack day... Com games galore... 06 and DS2... Oh and in the morn Andrew asked me to run with his friends... Luckily his "run" = jogging or else I would have died somewhere during the 4km...

25th Dec: It's Christmas Time... Merry Christmas to you... I went to church, then rushed to Raffles Hotel... I actually made it to the 2nd session RIGHT ON TIME... Wha I've been coming right on time for many caroling sessions... Haha just slotted myself in the last row... First time I saw Evelyn conducting... Haha someone kept asking others to conduct instead... 3rd session I decided to let Martin conduct... After conducting Joy to the World I felt I couldn't do it man... Stress... Instead, the 4 yr 2 solos of last yr's Gaudete did 1 verse each... Now tt was new! Haha. The 4th session was as usual a bang... Too bad lesser ppl came this yr compared to last yr... Nonetheless it was an enjoyable session... Nelson was there... A lot of seniors and friends were there... Totally exciting... Marcus's Gaudete solo was superb... The ring was there. He's the man now. After caroling, Cl, Eq, some of the juniors and me went to starbucks... Oh I met Dennis Oh... Haha he offered to treat me so I couldn't turn down tt offer right? Haha I think he's used to it since Tk... Anyway, he treated the seniors... Haha so at least he wasn't biased... We sat and talked abt the good old days for a while. However I had to go home cos all my cousins came to my house for some Christmas dinner... Yeah! Turkey, Beef, Cheese sausages, Onion rings, Wedges, and Ham... Then Ice cream! Yeah Christmas just rocks to the core!!! Good food, good company and plenty of presents. But most importantly, it is to celebrate the child in the manger, our Lord Jesus Christ. That is the most impt reason. Without him, we'll all be still sinners...

24th Dec: Second night of caroling with Victoria Chorale(VC) @ Hyatt... They are P-R-O PRO. What more to say? Oh Hyatt gave us 2 hotel rooms to change... This time we got some business suite... The bed was big, there were 2 tvs, the bathroom was marble plated and big, 1 sofa and there was a mugging, opps I mean business table with light... Ya too bad we can't stay the night... After tt Cl, Eq and me went to meet Evelyn and her juniors for supper... Well we all couldn't decide where to go so we met in the middle of citylink... They wanted to go marina square but I didn't want to go tt far... I was damn tired... So in the end I went home... I wanna apologise to the peeps for just walking away like tt... I was super tired...

23rd Dec: First night of caroling with VC @ Hyatt... And also a punishment for singing so badly on 22nd... Ya now maybe I though I could learn from the pros... Yup I did learn smt with Cl... Joy to the World is the warm up song... After that we sing! Haha of course I wasn't used to it but nvm, tenors were ok cos Tiong was blasting his heart out, basses were overpowering, all because of a cow(opps)... Ok so pro ppl don't need warmups... Technically, Joy to the world is enough to warm up ur voice... I'm super impressed... I need to learn this one day... Smt abt Hyatt... They gave us two rooms to change... Too bad our room was not as gd as the 24th's but who cares... I also found out that hyatt audience is more appreciative than ritz audience... I don't know y...

22nd Dec: 2nd night of caroling with VJC choir @ ritz... I came right on time just as they were abt to warm up... Ya I'm getting the hang of this... Anyway tt night was terrible... I couldn't really hit the high notes properly. Something told me I'm not going to make it for the solo (ok Marcus and Martin were supposed to sing solo, but Martin's in Evelyn's grp and Marcus was conducting). So everybody saboed me for solo... Let's just say I didn't make it at the Fs...No ring no nothing so disappointing... The only consolation was the notes were in tune, but they sounded thin without the ring... Maybe it's fatigue, I dunno. After the session, I went to Raffles for the last session. Surprise Cl was conducting instead of Evelyn... Haha Cl's conducting is very funny. Very dramatic... But it's ok! Definitely better than mine...(Everybody's conducting skills are better than mine). Yeah this time Marcus sang solo... Although he cracked at one note, I think it was much better than mine... Oh wells. At least I had time to rest and recover my voice for 23rd's caroling. It was one of the few times the tenors were quite strong(ok maybe it's because Marcus wasn't conducting). Yay didn't need to blast... I've been blasting for the past few days... Wha I was damn sad la. It was the worst I have ever sung... I felt really bad... A lot of ppl tried to cheer me up during supper but failed... Ya I decided I need a well earned rest...

21st Dec: First night caroling @ Ritz with VJC choir... Evelyn's grp was there but in the end Jeremy conducted instead (Now u know y I only saw her conduct on Christmas)... We planned to do Gaudete cos all the yr 2 solos were there... In the end we didn't do it... Too bad... We were 10 mins ahead of schedule due to some miscommunication. After tt Cl, Eq and me went to eat dinner before going to Raffles... In the end, they both didn't want to sing. But I still went ahead... I promised Marcus I wld go and help cos the tenors are weaker than last yr... After tt we had supper with some juniors...

Before 21st Dec: A lot of things to write so little time... To skim through (latest to earliest) , I went for a reunion session, 16th and 17th I went for caroling @ Esplanade. Before tt I went for one caroling session @ Mandrin Hotel. Further backwards, there was prom night... Our class had our own prom night. We had buffet @ Ritz! I played Halo 2 cos Daniel brought his X box... I didn't sleep for 24 hrs tt day! Hahaha ya and much more which I forgot! Sad case...
