Right let's start from the beginning... Now everything was going exactly as planned... Everything to the dot... With a strategically placed .5 OIL(CNY) on Mon and 1 OIL(IPPT Silver) on Tue, I set forth to claim what I had aimed to acheive 8 months ago... 2 tries on the circuit (plus lots of NFS at home) and I was ready for the last day of feb... At 0700, I was slacking at a dark corner outside da base, trying to steady my nerves... Then, it was a short routine pract at the base before a huge briefing... I waited in the briefing room, trying (again) to steady my nerves... At 'bout 0830, I was ready for war... Following the TP to the Lancer, I was shaking in my hands, legs and pants too... Grrr... How unprofessional...
Inside, I fastened my seat belts and willed myself into NFS mode... Yep... No time to think... It's time to trust the Force and my instincts... As I turned my 'Mech to the left (no pun intended), I remembered that drifting and speeding are strictly not allowed...
As much as I would like to say the rest is history, I can't... Unlike IPPT, whose outcome was decided after SBJ, the same cannot say for this test... Cos anytime, I can get a tick which would defeat me immediately... The threat of IF hanged over my head like a noose, ready to tighten at any mounting of the kerb or colliding with anything... Woah... But hey... No biggie right? What experience u lack in reality, u boast in virtual reality (unlike most ppl who lack both!)... VR won't work on the road, but it works on the circuit... With all the tight bends flying about, it's a battle of control, something that is emphasied in VR... So without even touching anything solid (except the road of course...), it was time to conquer the road...
That was when the trouble started... As I turned out, I realised there was no E brake and obviously at that point, the ice melted... Suddenly what was as cool as Calvin became clammy... Woah... Now that was a biggie... How many points deducted? And suddenly the noose tightened... Luckily after a couple of shifting gears and some favourable light and traffic conditions, it became cool again... But just like Global Warming, the temp increased again as it was game over on the road after a mere 10 mins... (Awww... Where's the fun? Where's the kick?) No U turn leh... So it was damn scary at that point as I brought the Lancer back to base... Such a short time on the road means...
FAIL!!!
Oh man... All that time, effort and money wasted... So much for the Force... Not to mentioned many ticks on the paper that I spied on the way back... The noose tightened to the point of no return when he said not that good driving today, as he tallied the score... All right... That's it! Game over... Total rout... A day of defeat... Suddenly the noose disappeared as two digits appeared... 14... Now the rest IS history...
Now all that's left is mopping up... The bulk of my objectives are and will be completed... The chorale aspects will take care of themselves... Earn more money, get a Vista enabled com and see the world... That's hard... Must see how after ORD... Or maybe not eh? If I don't screw up, ORD is not a fact... It's a certainty... The fact is I ORDed today... I completed what I wanted to do these 2 yrs in NS... Muahaha... As for PS3... Sometimes, we all can't have everything in life right?
