Choral is not = pop

Friday's Music Fest was so cool. All the solo pros were performing! From choir alone we had like 10+ ppl! All were better than Thursday's! Maybe it's because it was held at the PT which had better acoustics and better sound system. Wha Sheena, Jian Hao, Shawn, Michelle and Nichole were good! Haha. Of course there were the flops and the normal ppl who can sing but are not outstanding. The TSD had some ppl but they were not as good. There was this girl who did How Do I Live Without You... Damn nice. Okok... Before the solos, Wei Lin was helping his friend warm up to reach the Gs. Haha I was listening and giving comments... Then we went backstage to sing 100 years and superman... Just as I was gonna regret not joining solo, Jian Hao stepped up. His You Raise Me Up was damn nice cos it suits his voice. Then Sheena did a song that also suited her voice. Well done! Tt's the VJ choir I know! Went to help Shawn warm up after tt. Damn lame. He told me the highest note was G and he told me to go higher so I did. Went to the high G- 1 octave above his highest note and ended on the G. I told him if you can reach the high G, the G shd be nt... Alas, due to the stupid new rule of cutting the time limit, Shawn didn't reach the G... Damn he should have done Breathe Easy and blow the judges away... Even Marcus was impressed... I dunno whether the judges were but I tell you they cut him after like 1+ min. Not fair lor. Then Michelle's turn. Classy Michelle. When the judges rang the bell, she played 1 more bar on the piano and said "Does it mean I can go on?" She also played the piano for Nichole. Ah Nichole tried to follow Adi... Haha WL was like counting how many notes she sang in 1 note. 8 ok. Damn pro la. Compared to my 4... I suck la. All in all, the choir did well. Congrats! Lucky I nv join. Won't stand a chance...

Today was another tanning session before going for choir pract. We polished up tt new chinese song. It's damn nice lor! And lucky Jian Hao!!! Haha he kena solo at the end of the song! Yeah we were like teasing him cos he'll be the last voice we all will hear for SOV!!! Someone shd be interested to know tt... Then we went to hear the whitacre songs tt Gab managed to find... And then small group practice!!! OMG! 4 of each section per grp. Haiz. After going through Lily once, I was in a state of shock. Ok Kai Wen and Chin Leng, who were in my grp, were shocked too. 1 tone flat. I bet we'll be the lousiest grp. I was right. Ok maybe our grp had the most juniors but we all are to be blamed... I understand now why Nelson kept saying back in Tk that you need 2 good singers to cover a bad singer and it takes 1 person to make the whole song flat or sharp as ppl normally sing the wrong thing instead. Haiz... I suck. My pitching's off today (or is it due to external factors?). Then again all the 4 grps' pitching were not there! Cannot stand it. I must improve. I shall go for retraining... And the stupid A... Can't reach it chorally... Haha I built the notes to that G... And then anticlimax... Falsettoed the A... What's more my G's not really choral... Maybe it's too much of pop... Haha media influence. The scum of the universe. Ok man... After Monday's performance, it'll be back to choral music... Haha for now, it's more pop as I prepare for Monday's grp performance! Yup, after choir, the gang went to eat at Parkway, then went to school to practice. Shawn's grp did their song while we did ours. At last we're improving. We sound more pop and we're doing it without music! Please come support us! Okok after Monday I'll revert back to choral asap...
